·Resumen

La Grammaire générale et raisonnée, conocida comúnmente con el nombre de Grammaire de Port-Royal, fue el resultado de la colaboración del gramático y pedagogo Claude Lancelot (1616-1695) y del filósofo y teólogo Antoine Arnauld (1612-1694). El cuarto centenario del nacimiento de Lancelot y el cincuentenario del inicio de la renovación del interés por la GGR (con las obras de Chomsky y Foucault, y la edición de Brekle) son una buena ocasión para recordar esta obra, una de las más importantes en la historia de la gramática y de la teoría del lenguaje. Este artículo describe la historia de la GGR (recepción, influjo y ediciones) desde su concepción y publicación hasta nuestros días, con una especial consideración hacia la figura de Lancelot. El artículo aspira a probar que los modelos historiográficos disponibles no logran explicar esta evolución, lo suficientemente importante y representativa para servir al propósito de poner de relieve la necesidad de idear un modelo alternativo de enfoque para la historia de la lingüística. Por último, el trabajo también aborda la discutida cuestión de si la GGR representó una mutación epistemológica y, si fue así, de qué forma aconteció.

·Abstract

The Grammaire générale et raisonnée, commonly known as the Port-Royal Grammar, was the outcome of the cooperation of the grammarian and educator Claude Lancelot (1616-1695) and the philosopher and theologian Antoine Arnauld (1612-1694). The fourth centenary of Lancelot’s birth and the fiftieth anniversary of the reawakening of interest in the GGR (initiated in 1966 by Foucault’s and Chomsky’s works and Brekle’s edition of the GGR) may be a good occasion to remember one of the most important works in the history of grammar and the theory of language. In the present paper, we outline the history of the GGR (reception, influence, and editions) from its inception until the present time, with a special focus on the figure of its author. This article sets out to show that the available historiographic methods are not suitable to explain this evolution, which is important and representative enough to serve the purpose of making up an alternative model for the history of linguistics. We also examine the controversial issue of whether the GGR brought about an epistemological change, and, if so, in which ways it happened.
